How It Works
- Selection of Test Load – The proof load is usually higher than the equipment’s rated working load (typically 1.1 to 1.5 times the maximum working load).
- Use of Steel Weights – Steel weights are used as the applied load because they provide precise and measurable weight increments.
- Application of Load – The steel weights are gradually applied to the structure, crane, hoist, or platform under controlled conditions.
- Monitoring and Inspection – During and after the test, inspectors look for signs of deformation, stress, or structural failure
- Approval – If the equipment passes without any issues, it is considered safe for operation.
